I'm still alive

Even though I am pretty sure after yesterday I should be in a sugar induced coma. But my birthday turned out great this year, and I enjoyed it, so that is all that matters.

It's amazing how one day of eating junk can make you appreciate the way you feel when your eating well. I haven't had a doughnut in over a year, and while it's was sooo great, boy did it do a number on my system.

But back on track today.

My friend Kathy, reminded us the other day that we need to get back to the basics of weight watchers. I think we all follow it so closely at first, and then gradually get away from the basics of it, stop measuring, because we all know what 6 ounces of apple looks like right? Then we are surprised that the plan doesn't work as well for us as it did in the beginning. No wonder it doesn't right?

So, for the next 20 days (until Thanksgiving, I feel thats a good period of time), I am going completely back to the basics. Measuring, and trying my best to get the 8 good health guidelines in, before indulging in the treat stuff.

For those of you on weight watchers, and to help myself review, here are the good health guidelines

1. Eat at least five servings of fruits/vegetables a day. Serving is one half cup.
2.Get at least two servings of dairy a day. A Serving is one cup.
3.Drink at least 48 ounces of water day.
4. Make sure you get enough protein. One or two servings a day.
5. Have two teaspoons of healthy oil a day.
6. Take a multi-vitamin daily.
7. Choose whole grains whenever possible.
8. Limit added sugar and alcohol.

I know myself, I need to focus on the dairy and the oil. Seems as though I never get the oil in, and the dairy I'm always a little shy of two full cups. I am really focusing on these the next 20 days. Which ones do you guys have problems with?

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend. I will post weigh in on Sunday morning, although I know it won't be good, between b-day food yesterday and it already being my TOM week.

Stay healthy!

I struggle with dairy and protein actually. So many days I don't get even one serving of meat...only chesse here and there. Those are the nights that I am starving!

I like to add the oil to salad dressings I make. Easy for me to get my olive oil that way.

WATER...WATER...WATER!!!
When you're an old lady and you drink all that water, you make tracks to the bathroom about every 15 minutes and all night long...I hate that so I tend to dehydrate myself. They say you get a lot from the fruits and vegetables, milk, soup...so maybe I'm not so bad...but definitely not what WW expects of you.

Fruits and veggies are always a problem for me, and water has been one lately that I've slipped up on.

Glad to hear you had a good birthday this year!
