"The most absurd and reckless aspirations have sometimes led to
extraordinary success."
- Vauvenargues

Good Afternoon everyone. Typically I don't post on Sundays, unless it's a weigh in day, but I figured what the heck, I'd put in a short update.

Emotionally, I've been doing ok. I still have some rough spots, but overall, I'm beginning to get back to normal, and becoming the old me again, that makes me happy.

Exercise, has been good. I finished up 15 miles this week, which is what I had planned, and I mark that as an accomplishment, because I certainly could have used a wide variety of excuses that would have been great excuses not to run, but I didn't. And this morning, I started another week of running, with a run of 4 miles. It was a perfect morning, it was about 60 when I headed out, without a cloud in the sky, and the wind was calm. I had a good run.

Food wise, I think I've been doing well. I have been writing down what I eat, just not keeping track of calories or points, and I like this approach. I try to pick something I did good at the end of the day and write it down, and I also try to pick something I could improve on. I think it keeps me honest.

Other than that, I haven't done much for the long weekend. I needed some downtime, and I've taken it. Tech is gone to the north, dirt biking, so that left me without a man for the weekend, which, with my man hating attitude, perhaps that was a good thing. I do plan on taking duke and heading to one of my girlfriends tonight for a fire with her and her dog. It should be fun. Then tomorrow, when the parents get home, we are doing the classic summer meal, bacon and tomato sandwiches and sweet corn. Yum. Of course I will be buying turkey bacon for me :)

I've been eating the heck out of sweet corn this year, I've been stopping and getting a couple ears on my way home from work at least 2 or 3 nights a week. I'm so going to miss it when I can't do that anymore. Just a seasonal delicacy around here ;)

Anyone else love sweet corn?

Anyways, I hope you guys have fantastic rest of the long weekends, and I'll be touching base with ya'll next week :) Happy Labor Day!

Nice run! I'm so hoping to be able to start running when i get the angio-plasty done. There's just no way before that ;(
Corn, definitely on my menu this week, that and lots of bbq!!
I'm so happy to hear that you're taking care of you this week. We all need that. Love the idea of writing down one good thing and one thing you could improve. I may just have to borrow that idea ;) Have a great time with your girlfriend.

The sweet corn here has been great. More expensive than usual, but it only comes in July and August so I try to eat my fill.

Love sweet corn! I had some left over from supper the night and the next day, I sliced it from the cob straight into a salad with lettuce, tomato, a slice of bacon crumbled, and a little vidalia onion topped with vinegar and oil. OOH...LA...LA! So good!

I also like leftovers made into an omelet!

Oh sweet corn! It is the best! We do not get a whole lot of it here in the city ... but I am a regular at the farm stand when I am at my folks. Hope you were able to have some fun and smile and laugh this weekend! Hugs!

I have been eating SOOO much corn lately. I have been buying a dozen here and there and then I have it as a side every night with my dinner! Yumm.

Glad you are having some great "ME" time...you deserve and need it.

Love me some sweet corn. And since my parents introduced me to the "potato bag" I've been cooking it in the microwave. So easy and so yummy!!!! A few sprays of butter and some Old Bay and I'm in heaven.

Glad to hear you're doing better. And I love corn, it's my favorite in the summer. We moved out by Romeo in Feb. and couldn't wait for summer, there are stands everywhere out here to buy it.

Love the idea of just jotting down what you ate and not the points. It does keep you honest that way.

I'm glad you are getting back to your old self and taking some time for you. Way to keep up on your running! You are doing great. And I too loves me some corn. My hubs loves to watch me eat it because normally I'm a slow eater but not when it comes to corn!
